The College Bowl season has it's first multiple game day today as bettors are treated to three seperate Bowl Games. In the first two games if you were to take the favorites you'd be going into today with a 1-1 ATS mark for a small loss. Since most of the general public loves to bet the favorites in general I decided to take a look at if that would be a profitable thing to do during Bowl season. What I found was an interesting trend. Basically I took a look at favorites who played prior to the Christmas Holiday versus ones that played subsequent to the Holiday. Apparently the Holiday has an affect on teams as there are two opposing performances prior and after the Holiday. Below is what I found:

Favorites Performance Prior to the Holiday:

Over the last four seasons favorites in bowl games played before Christmas are an unbelievable 21-3 SU & 17-7 ATS for a 70.8% performance. So with a 1-1 ATS performance thus far history would tell you that 3 of the next 4 bowl games prior to the holiday would have the favorites come in at least 3-1 ATS.

Favorite Performance After the Holiday

Over the last four seasons favorites in the rest of the games played on Christmans day and after are 52-40 SU but a bankroll draining 34-57 (34.7%)ATS. Certainly a trend to take note of this year.

While it is never a good idea to blindly follow historical trends they are important none the less to include them into your handicapping arsenal.
