The Oddsmakers certainly love it when the football schedulers look to put big games on Prime Time TV. Statistically more money is bet on Nationally Televised games then on any other single game. Since this is the case then you can bet tonight's FSU/Clemson matchup will draw a lot of action. There in lies the problem, however, as there will more than likely not be any advantage in the line since the lines makers know that the betting public will want to get in on the action anyway. The reality is that no matter how much is written about not betting a game if it doesn't present a winning opportunity the betting public, for the most part, is going to bet it anyway. So goes the case with tonight's game. In my opinion this one is too close to call as there are a lot of unanswered questions on both sides, but if you must I have chimed in below with my opinion on the game. After a disappointing '06 campaign and FSU not competing for a National Title for several years now, Papa Bowden decided to shape up his coaching staff in the off season. Although I am impressed with these moved I don't believe that they will pay dividends in the very short term. Although the offense brings back six starters it's from an offense that couldn't sustain scoring drives. Add in a new offensive coordinator to the mix who will be attempting to evaluate who will start at QB you have the makings of not much offense for FSU tonight. The FSU defense lost three of their best defenders to the NFL but really weren't all that impressive anyway. In each of their losses last year they allowed more than 25 points per game. Their test tonight will be having to stop the Clemson run that averaged 5.7 yards per carry last season. Clemson comes into this game winning their last two over the Seminoles and will be looking for their 8th consecutive winning season. Last season their offense ranked 15th in the NCAA and will be anchored by returning running backs James Davis, and C.J. Spiller. They will also have speed on the outside in WR Jacoby Ford. The Clemson defense was ranked in the Top 20 last year and returns seven starters and 25 letterman. This should bode well for them tonight as they face a Florida State offense that doesn't show much promise in the early going. The bottom line here is whether or not the FSU defense can stop the potent running game of Clemson. In my opinion, Clemson should be able to keep the ball away from an already questionable FSU offense by running the ball. That's going to keep this one close all night long. Opinion: Take Clemson and the points.
