There is a lot of differing opinions on whether head to head matchups present advantages for a certain team and thus a profit opportunity for the bettor. Some "experts" believe that some teams just have an advantage over another when they play head to head regardless of the kind of season they are having while others throw out that notion and focus strictly on the season at hand. My particular approach encompasses both angles as I believe that teams do in fact have matchup advantages regardless of how the season is going, however, totally discounting current play can be bankroll suicide. With that being said I focused on six games this week (3 NCAAF and 3 NFL) worthy of consideration. Below are the head to head matchups as well as my opinion on the side play.

Texas Tech at Baylor: Texas Tech comes into this game 13-2 SU and 12-3 ATS versus Baylor since 1982.

The last that the Baylor Bears beat Texas Tech was in 1995, the average score since has been Texas Tech 44.2 and Baylor 14.2. Another thing to consider is that Baylor is 1-11 ATS in home games versus teams - scoring 37 or more points/ game since 1992. My Opinion: Take Texas Tech.

Clemson at Duke: The home teams is 6-3 SU and 10-1 ATS in this series since 1995.

Back in 2004 Duke upset Clemson at home, 16-13 in the season’s next-to-last game. The loss snapped the Tigers 4-game winning streak. This year Clemson makes its first trip to Durham since that loss. Clemson comes into this one playing well but this is one of those times that other things might just be more important (like having to win on the road in the ACC). My Opinion: Take Duke and the points.

Wisconsin at Ohio State: The underdog is 5-2 SU and 7-0 ATS the L7 in this series.

Wisconsin has been the underdog in all but one of the 11 head-tohead meetings with Ohio State since 1992. The underdog has won four straight ATS wins in the series and three outright in Columbus. In addition the last time that the Ohio State Buckeyes won and covered versus Wisconsin was in 2000 and coincidently was the underdog. My Opinion: Take Wisconsin and the points.

New England at Indianapolis: New England is 17-8 SU and 17-7 ATS versus the Colts since 1993.

Between 2001 and 2005 the Patriots beat the Colts six straight times. However, things have turned as Indianapolis has now won the last three meetings SU and ATS. However, this is one of those times to consider how the teams are currently playing and as of now New England is just head and shoulders above everyone. This will also more than likely be the last time you see the Patriots not listed as a double digit favorite this season. My Opinion: Take the Patriots.

Cincinnati at Buffalo: Buffalo is 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS their L6 versus the Bengals.

These two teams met back in 2005 in Cincinnati as the Bengals were a 13-point favorite but lost outright 37-27. Before that meeting the favored Bills won all five previous meetings. Buffalo playing well at home this season. Buffalo will be getting points versus a team that they seem to have good success against. My Opinion: Take Buffalo and the points.

Baltimore at Pittsburgh: Baltimore is 3-1 SU and 4-0 ATS their L4 meetings versus the Steelers.

The Steelers have really struggled versus Baltimore the last two years. Even when the Steelers won the Super Bowl in 2005 they were only able to win by a point at home. Baltimore is in the midst of four straight ATS wins in this series. Baltimore seems to matchup well physically with Pittsburgh. My Opinion: Take Baltimore.
