By: Steve Merril Below is a free MLB play with analysis for Sunday afternoon: RAYS at RANGERS (-125) – 1:00 pm ET #978 Not an official play, but I would rate the Rangers as a light lean this afternoon. The Rangers failed in their first attempt to closeout the Tampa Bay Rays. Now they'll hope to do so on Sunday behind Tommy Hunter who has not lost at home this season. Hunter went 7-0 with a 3.06 ERA in 11 starts at home. One of those wins came against the Rays in a game in which he gave up only one run and five hits in nine innings pitched. Hunter did fall in Tampa Bay back in August after giving up four runs and six hits in three innings, but he's a different pitcher at home. Evan Longoria (2-11), BJ Upton (2-10), Ben Zobrist (2-9), John Jaso (0-6), and Matt Joyce (0-2) all have poor numbers against Hunter. Even with the win yesterday, the Rays are still 3-7 in their last 10 games in Arlington. The last time Wade Davis pitched in Arlington this season, it was an outing he'd like to forget. The Rays starter gave up eight runs and nine hits in 3.1 innings of work. Texas won that game 9-6 in a slugfest. Davis was 6-3 with a 3.94 ERA in 14 road games. Runners get on base against Davis on the road as he sports a 1.37 WHIP away from Tampa this season. Michael Young (1-3), Elvis Andrus (1-3), Josh Hamilton (2-2), and Julio Borbon (2-2) were among the players who got hits off Davis in that game. Texas is 51-31 now at home this season, and we expect them to get another win here to end this series with the Rays.
