The Lakers roll into the NBA Picks finals for the 30th time in their franchises history. In addition, coach Phil Jackson will be making his 12th appearance. The Lakers will be gunning for their 15th NBA Picks titles in their history as they play game 1 versus the Orlando Magic. If the Lakers can pull this off it will give Phil Jackson his 10th NBA Picks ring, which would put him atop the coach fraternity. So, if you thiink just getting to the finals was a goal of the Lakers, think again. This sentiment is echoed by Kobe Bryant when he states, "It's different," ........ "We're very thankful of being in this position. But [shrugging], we did it last year. We're ready to move on the NBA Finals and try to take care of business." Still there's questions about LA's toughness. But they have gotten this far in the NBA Picks season and if the last series against the Nuggets is any indication it appears they are in position to win the title. At least the public thinks so, as the NBA odds have the Lakers listed as a huge (-280) favorite while Orlando is an (+210) underdog. On the other side of the ledger the NBA Picks Orlando Magic roll into this finals matchup with the Lakers after disposing of the Defending NBA Picks Champion and this years pre-ordained NBA Picks Champion Cleveland Cavaliers. Certainly all the press is going to "Superman" Dwight Howard but in order for the Magice to pull off another NBA Picks surprise might be the play of their guards. Rafer Alston has played better than all expectations and has limited his turnovers while backup Anthony Johnson hasn't done anothing to hurt the team coming off of the bench. The Lakers could have an NBA Picks problem in this area as Derek Fisher is showing his age and Jordan Farmer is showing he has trouble handling the pressures of the NBA picks Playoffs. With all that said it will be interesting to see if the Lakers can do what the Cavaliers couldn't,. control Howard while limiting their effectiveness outside the arc. Don't forget either that the Magic did beat the Lakers twice this season in NBA Picks action. If you think that a sweep might be in the cards the NBA Odds have the series ending in 4 games listed at +550.
