The Hall of Fame game kicks off the NFL preseason tonight as Pittsburgh meets New Orleans. This game kicks off a full slate of games that will give us a number of opportunities to increase our football bankroll. However, winning in the preseason is not like the regular season for a variety of reasons that I have written about in the past so it's important to not rely on regular season past performances. To kick off week #1 of the preseason I have isolated some games that have enough technical angles to warrant some wagering consideration. So without further rambling let's get to Week #1's recommendations: August 10th St. Louis at Minnesota -- St. Louis coach Linehan is 0-4 ATS while the team is 3-11 ATS in their first preseason away game. Minnesota is 7-2 ATS versus the NFC and 15-8 ATS in preseason home openers. Recommendation: Play on Minnesota. August 11th Jacksonville at Miami -- Jacksonville is 4-1 ATS in this series and 14-6-1 (8-1 L9) ATS as underdogs. Miami is 1-9 ATS in their first preseason home game and 1-8-1 ATS as a home favorite of less than 6 points. Recommendation: Play on Jacksonville, especially if they are a small underdog. Carolina at NY Giants -- Carolina coach Foxx is 8-1 ATS as a pick or underdog in the preseason while Carolina is 5-1 in their first game. NY coach Coughlin is 2-7 his L9 versus the NFC while the Giants are 1-4 ATS in this series. Recommendation: Play on Carolina especially if listed as an underdog. As always, good luck and check back at Alexandersports.com for up to the minute winning selections.
