Although the NFL season officially started this past Thursday with Indianapolis pasted the New Orleans Saints, this is the day that all of us football junkies have been waiting for as the NFL kicks off a full slate of action. For the most part this excitement tends to have the average person betting on more games then they should and putting themselves in situations that do not favor a positive outcome. Remember, it is a long season and situations that favor the bettor will be in abundance as the year progresses. In this week #1 of action there are a couple of angles to take note of and factor into your selections.
Angle #1 --Teams who did not win in the preseason and/or lost three games by double digits that open up as an underdog of 8 points or more tend to come out in their first game looking for redemption. If you take teams in this situation you have a 4-0 ATS angle since 1997.
Angle #2 --In this angle you have teams who where undefeated and/or won three games by double digits going into their first regular season as an underdog of at least 3 points. If you take teams in this situation you have a 5-3 ATS angle since 1997.
